MALACHITE  AFTER AZURITE

SIR DOMINICK MINE , ARKAROOLA, STH.AUSTRALIA

This little specimen is really nice with a rich green colour and  a lovely sheen. Malachite replacing Azurite as a blocky "rosette" with a crystal protruding from the middle of the front and two similar appearing on the back, at odds with the rest of layered dark green forms. A nice individual.

                                        CALCITE  AFTER  ARAGONITE PSEUDOMORPH

                                                      RENISON BELL MINE,  ROSEBERY, TASMANIA

These large intergrown calcite sprays are assumed to be after aragonite. Only a small number of these were found in 1999. Reference: Australian Journal of Mineralogy Vol 5 No.1 June 1999.  The contact areas are both at the base and the top of the longest sprays indicating the situation in which it grew. One spray is partly coloured similarly to siderite. It was hard to choose an aspect to capture for the photos as it could be displayed many different ways. An interesting form and it would be an unusual and rare addition to your Tasmanian collection.

QUARTZ - JAPAN LAW TWIN

SHEPHERDLEY'S MINE, THE GULF,

EMMAVILLE, N.S.W.

There is the slightest hint of a smoky coloured tinge about this specimen which contains 2 tiny black inclusions as yet unidentified. The tips appear in tact but I did detect a microscopic chip at the top edge of the right rear wing see photo which is not glaringly apparent . This is a good little twin from this locality and a very good piece from the New England area of New South Wales.

SIZE: 14mm H x 17mm W x 3mm Thick    PRICE: $40   Item NUMBER: AM 301
